Rumor Roundup 10/19

Game Rumors by Matthew Walker

Warhawk DLC on the way:

The first multi-release game for download and retail could be getting some downloadable content soon. The new content could be available as soon as December for the rabid fanbase of the game. There has been no official word from Sony or Incognito yet, but early reports indicate that there could be a new vehicle in the works for us to pilot. The vehicle has been reported as a missile launching airlifting Dropship. Again, no official word but we will keep you posted.

Verdict: Almost a definite though the timing might not be right.

Lost Planet on the PS3:

Could it be that Microsoft’s semi big title is going to the PS3? Well if the reports on Sony’s end are to be believed then I’d say there’s a really big chance that it could be. The reports indicate that the PS3 version of the game will include all of the downloadable content currently available on the 360, plus a few other modifications. In addition to that, online battle will encompass 16 players and the inclusion of Frank West, Dead Rising’s protagonist, Mega Man, and Jo from the PC version of Lost Planet as a playable character in online play. If everything is true then the PS3 version of the game could be the definitive version of the title. We will keep you posted.

Verdict: Not so Lost on the PS3

Banjo on PC:

In case you didn’t know Banjo-Kazooie will be arriving on the Xbox 360 soon, but there are a few reports that the title may appear on what some are calling the best kid friendly console out there. Rare is not confirming the release on the PC, saying that they will wait until the game is finished before that decision is made. To further sway away from the game’s debut onto the PC, Rare designer Justin Cook went on to ask the question to PC Zone, “The question you should ask is whether the first two Banjo games would’ve mapped well to PC controls.” Not sure if this is a definite no, but we will keep you posted on the Banjo news.

Verdict: Most likely no Banjo love on the PC.

Sony Sells the Cell:

As reported a few weeks back Sony was contemplating selling the cell factories to make up for some of the cost they had accumulated over the year. Well Toshiba will be taking over the production of the CELL processor that backs the power of the PS3. As reported when this was a rumor I felt this could lead to a much needed price cut of the PS3 for fans to start gobbling up the system and it seems that I might have been a little right. Not much is known about how this sale will affect the production of the PS3 but we will know more about that in the coming months I’m sure.

Verdict: Confirmed but without full clarification .

Toshiba To Make Xbox 360 HD-DVD?

There is a rumor circulating that has come from an unnamed Toshiba representative that claims Microsoft has teamed up with Toshiba to make an Xbox 360 with a built in HD-DVD drive. According to the rep “ An Xbox with a built in HD DVD drive is critical. They and we are working on it. It also has to be more than a gaming machine. Microsoft recognise (sic) this. A version of the device may also be sold under the Toshiba brand name.” This Xbox 360 is also supposed to come with 1080p with HDMI support, wireless networking, dual HD tuners with program guide, and an mp3 player dock. There is also a rumor that Toshiba is contemplating a television that could dock the Xbox 360. This news sounds exciting and logical, but we’ll have to wait for the verdict.

Verdict: Xbox Next
