Jonathan Blow Plans for The Witness to Run at 1080p / 60fps

Braid designer Jonathan Blow has revealed that he is planning for his forthcoming exploration-puzzle game to run at 1080p 60 frames per second right off the bat when it launches on PlayStation later this year.

In a post detailing the game’s development progress on PlayStation.Blog, Blow outlined a number of different details regarding how The Witness was coming along.

While he plans for the game will to run at 1080p and at 60 frames per second, he does confess that the game doesn’t quite hit the mark in all of its locations and areas. However, he is optimistic that The Witness will be able to do so by the time it releases.

At launch on PS4, we’re planning to render at 1080p and 60 frames per second. Right now we meet this target in many areas of the game, but not everywhere. But with more old-fashioned hard work, we should be, ” Blow explained.

Blow’s full rundown of the game’s development progress can be found via the source link below. On the topic of games that are touted to be 1080p and/or 60 frames per second, Driveclub’s creative director has confirmed that its online racing game will run at 1080p on the PlayStation 4, but it’ll be capped at 30 frames per second due to the focus being on graphical fidelity.

Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs was also first thought going to be 1080p and 60 frames per second, but it was later redacted .

The Witness is slated to release on PC, iOS and PlayStation in mid-2014.
