Jonathan Blow’s The Witness Will Release First On PlayStation 4

Jonathan Blow’s The Witness Will Release First On PlayStation 4

Braid is one of the best selling indie games ever released. Its creator, Jonathan Blow, announced during Sony’s PlayStation 4 event that his follow up, The Witness, is coming to PS4. Not only that, it will hit Sony’s next-gen system before anyone else can get their hands on it.

The Witness takes place in an open world, but one that’s as compact as possible. The point of this is to create an experience that makes the best use of your time. In addition, Blow promised that the game would contain “no filler.” So, don’t expect any padding to create a longer playtime here.

At its core, this is a puzzle game, one that will take around 25 hours to complete.

A trailer was shown, demonstrating a quasi-painted visual style, filled with vibrant forests and puzzles.

Lots and lots of puzzles.

The game’s been in development for nearly three years, but that wait is almost over. However, we don’t know if the title will make the PS4’s launch.

The game reminds me a lot of Myst and Riven, which is, of course, a very good thing.
