Legendary Pictures Wants a Pokemon Go Movie

Legendary Pictures Wants a Pokemon Go Movie

Pokemon Go has proven to be an unstoppable revenue generating machine. Not only is the app prospering well beyond our wildest imaginings, but almost anything with the name Pokemon Go attached to it tends to do really well. Small business who advertise their status as a Poke Stop and set out lures for players to take advantage of are seeing huge spiked in business, and we’re seeing restaurants and boutiques with Pokemon- themed signage outside of their doors. It’s not just little guys capitalizing off of this latest craze, though: Legendary Pictures wants in on the action.

Actually, all of Hollywood wants to cash in on the Pokemon Go hype, but Legendary has been in talks with Nintendo for some trying to acquire the rights to produce a live-action movie. Pokemon Go has only introduced a renewed urgency to the conversation, and sources at Deadline are indicating that, while nothing is final, the deal is headed toward a point of closure. Whether the movie would be focused on Pokemon Go specifically, or just Pokemon generally, is unclear at this point. A few publications seem to be hinting at the former but as I said, nothing has been confirmed at this point. We’ll keep you guys updated as soon as we learn more.
