Leisure Suit Larry Creator Leaves Publisher Replay Games

Leisure Suit Larry Creator Leaves Publisher Replay Games

Al Lowe, creator of Leisure Suit Larry , has severed ties with publisher Replay Games, and you’ll never imagine why. According to Lowe, the recent conviction of Replay’s president Paul Trowe, who pled guilty to showing a sexually explicit video to a minor, does not sit well with Lowe. Yes, the creator of Leisure Suit Larry , a game about hiring prostitutes and trying to get laid in Vegas, is leaving a publisher because its president is a sex offender. Irony of ironies.

Unfortunately, Replay Games still has the rights to the Leisure Suit Larry franchise. So Lowe’s decision to leave the company basically means he is being separated from the franchise that he created. It is unclear how this will affect the future of the franchise.

“There were many reasons for my departure, including that [2012] incident,” Lowe said to Kotaku. “As far as I know, Replay Games still has the rights (from Codemasters, owners of the I.P.) to do Leisure Suit Larry games, but they’ll have to do them without me.”
