So, Valve has a new blog. Not just any blog, of course—this isn’t about the company’s day and, no, they don’t feel like discussing their feelings —but they’d like to present what they call “Steam’d Penguins.” No, PETA won’t be on their case for this one. For those not in the know, Tux is the official mascot of the Linux kernel, from which have spun off countless open-source operating systems. Tux is also a penguin, and in this case, Valve’s clever little bit of wordplay is their way of revealing that, yes, they are officially working on a Steam client for Ubuntu 12.04. Ubuntu, as one of the more readily accessible Linux distributions, makes a lot of sense as a stable platform on which Valve can rebuild its library for the open-source set.
