Every year the release of the new Madden title is a huge event, effectively kicking off the busiest few months of game releases in the year. While the series typically sells well, last year EA was disappointed with the overall numbers, claiming decreased sales from the previous year. However, according to a statement released by EA (via 1Up), the company is quite pleased with this year’s sales.  EA Sports president Peter Moore states “Madden NFL 11 is the number one selling game in August, and the game has created enormous enthusiasm in the online community.” He continues “Each day on consoles, fans are playing as many games online as the equivalent of 750 full NFL seasons.” The statement from EA also confirmed that the sales of Madden went up “approximately 5%” from last year’s numbers, although no specific figures were given. |
