Marvel Confirms Ant-Man Production Start

Marvel Confirms Ant-Man Production Start

In what could very well end up being the studio’s biggest little adventure, we’ve learned that production on Ant-Man (starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas) is now officially underway!

A recent press release reveals the crew has currently begun its long journey in LA (naturally) but will also hit the East Coast over the course of filming as well. For those whom might be unfamiliar with the character, Ant-Man’s lineage stretches as far back in the comic world as the likes of Iron Man and Thor. The studio hypes his upcoming stand-alone film as an opportunity to “…bring one of Marvel comics’ original founding members of The Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

After an initially rocky pre-production period (due to the original director Edgar Wright quitting late in the game over creative differences) everything seems to be back on track for Ant-Man and Marvel. Telling the story of an unlikely savior, Rudd will play con-man Scott Lang who must “…embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”

Ant-Man hits theaters next summer.
