While I personally didn’t think the original F4 films were all THAT bad, apparently many hardcore comic fans disagree. Lucky for them, a remake is on the horizon that looks to wipe that bad taste from their mouths for good.
20 th Century Fox has been keeping a lid on the film’s details as of late (outside of releasing info pertaining to casting picks and a release date). However, we’ve now learned exactly what the reboot will be all about! “ The Fantastic Four ,” a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.” Reads a recent press release.
While the idea of inter-dimensional worlds might seem a bit out there as a jumping off point, it’s not all that crazy if you know the comic’s history. In fact, the alternate universe tale of the popular Marvel Zombies series actually originated as a spin-off of a Fantastic Four issue.
The new film is set to hit theaters by end of summer 2015.
