All Marvel Films Can Cross-Over Says X-Men Writer

All Marvel Films Can Cross-Over Says X-Men Writer

We’ve seen what a great job Marvel has done in seamlessly tying together one superhero film to the other. From Iron Man to Thor and the rest, The Avengers was a master-class in how to culminate things in a perfect crescendo. However, will we ever see the likes of Spider-Man or the X-Men share the same screen? One man at Marvel thinks it’s possible.

Simon Kinberg is writer/producer on multiple Marvel studios films, including Days of Future Past and the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. He explains that, even though many different rights issues come into play when dealing with the various franchises, it can all still work out. At this year’s WonderCon, Kinberg confirmed that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would have a tease for Days of Future Past during the end credits (a first for either franchise). “I see a world where everyone is joined together. The dream is, obviously, one day to do a Marvel movie that is with all the Marvel characters or at least a universe where they can dive in and out of one another’s films. Because that’s the way the comics were created, I think that’s the way the movies should actually be. For a series of business reasons, they aren’t. That’s not for narrative or creative reasons. The dream is that we could cross-pollenate and everyone would be building off the momentum of each other, which is what actually happens. We’re not in competition with each other.” He says.

Kinberg also touches on the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot I mentioned earlier, touting high hopes for the latest revision. “It’s great” he says. “It’s two weeks away from shooting. I was in Baton Rouge the day before yesterday. I’m going back tomorrow. The cast shows up this week. The script is in really good shape. I think it’s going to be a really neat, special different movie.”

No release date set for the reboot just yet, other than its set for some time in 2015.
