MechWarrior Introduces Mechs Akimbo?

MechWarrior Introduces Mechs Akimbo?

None

Longtime Battletech fans, especially those who played MechWarrior 2 back in the pre-Pentium days of PC gaming, probably don’t remember most of the missions. They were impressive and fun, but this paled in comparison to the segments that preceded them, in a clan’s base, poring over their choices of Mech and slotting weapons, heat sinks, and equipment as efficiently as possible.

Back then, everyone knew that only a newbie would slot weapons in his Mech’s arms, as they could easily be blown off, at which point those powerful missiles and lasers would be lost. The upcoming MechWarrior Online, however, finally offers real incentive for taking that risk: separate targeting reticles.

While the torso weapons are still limited to firing in whatever direction the Mech’s body is facing, the arms may be controlled separately, aimed using their own crosshair, targeting either multiple opponent or multiple segments of the same Mech.

Of course, this only applies to Mechs that have arms, such as the classic Timberwolf or Atlas. The Jenner will be a torso-only ordeal.
