In spite of reports yesterday that the upcoming wave of layoffs wouldn’t affect Microsoft’s gaming division, the first gaming related victim has fallen. Aces Game Studio, the internal development team responsible for the development of Microsoft Flight Simulator, has been officially slated to close. According to an IGN report, “Flight Simulator was one of the company’s oldest product lines, stretching back more than 20 years.” However, in current market conditions, Microsoft has decided “to align our people against our highest priorities,” according to a statement made by Edelman’s Kelda Rericha.
