Microsoft Talks PC / Xbox Windows 10 Features

Microsoft Talks PC / Xbox Windows 10 Features

During Microsoft’s Windows 10 presentation, head of Xbox Phil Spencer took to the stage to talk about what the new Windows operating system will offer to both Xbox and PC gamers. As well as integrating Xbox into Windows 10, Windows 10 itself will enable Xbox One gamers to stream their games to their Windows 10 PC or tablet via a wireless internet connection.

Also, both PC and Xbox One games will be able to play together on their respective platforms thanks to a new cross-platform functionality. The first Microsoft title to support this function will be Fable Legends , which is implied to release on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs at the same time later on this year. Both platforms will be able to experience the same game, only now they’ll be able play together on different systems. Fable Legends is said to be the “j ust the first of the major game franchises from Microsoft Studios coming to Windows 10,” with more information promised to be shared in the coming months. The Xbox One itself will also be upgraded to Windows 10, which is suggested to occur later on this year.

Xbox One accessories will also work interchangeably between both the console and a Windows 10 PC, and it’s promised that there will be more in the future. The new operating system will even support DirectX 12, which is said to deliver “greater complexity and detail on your current PC.” Games that are compatible with DirectX 12 will be able to “run faster and have richer visual” as a result of this integration. Unreal Engine 4 and Unity two examples of game graphics engines that have already implemented DirectX 12.

A Tech Preview of Windows 10 will be available next week, which offers an early version of the operating system’s Xbox app. Windows 10 will also be delivered to all Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 users for absolutely free during the first of launch. More information on the operating system and what it can bring to PC and Xbox One can be read via the source links below.
