Microsoft has announced that a new update to the Media Center edition of Windows will allow greater cross-over functionality with the Xbox 360 than the current edition of XP. The new edition will allow gamers to stream movies from their PC through the Xbox 360. The function will cover content saved on the PCs hard drive. The Xbox 360 will be able to manage up to 200 media files stored on a local PC. There will also be cross-compatibility enabling DVD burning and HD tuners. The new edition will be titled Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and will be released through Windows Update. If you already have a Media Center edition of XP, you can get a copy of the update for free.
