Mortal Kombat Legacy Creator Gets Movie Deal

Mortal Kombat Legacy Creator Gets Movie Deal

None

Do you remember Mortal Kombat Legacy, the gritty fan-made Mortal Kombat reboot that was all the rage back when MK9 was first releasing? Well, Hollywood certainly does, as Kevin Tancharoen, the director and creator of Mortal Kombat Legacy, is going to get a chance to direct a movie for the big screen, using the source material he likes so much.

Yes, Mortal Kombat is coming back to the big screen. However, this Mortal Kombat will be something entirely different from what we’ve seen before. Supposedly, the new MK movie will not be an extension of the plot of the game, the digital series, or the previous movie series. Instead, it is an entirely new plot.

The film is slated to come to a theater near you sometime in 2013, produced by New Line Cinema with a budget of just under one hundred million dollars.

So it’s a totally new MK movie that is separate from all the MK’s in the past eh? I don’t know when Hollywood will finally realize that gamers actually want to see movie adaptations of their favorite games be faithful to the source material. Then again, this is MK we are talking about, so as long as there’s blood, gore, and martial arts, it probably won’t matter.
