Netflix Hits 3DS Today

Netflix Hits 3DS Today

None

A couple days ago, we ran a story about how both Japan and Europe got a 3DS video service before we did here in the states. Well, we finally caught up and now we can hang with the cool kids.

Starting today, 3DS owners in the US and Canada can download a free Netflix application that will open up a world of streaming video to anyone who has a Netflix account. While we’ll be able to access Netflix’s standard library of TV shows and movies, it won’t be long before we’ll also “have access to an additional library of select movies” that can be viewed in full 3D using the 3DS’s HD 3D parallax screen.

Netflix service for the 3DS still costs eight bucks a month, and can be integrated into any existing Netflix account. In addition, users will be able to use both the Netflix parental controls and the 3DS parental controls to limit what streaming content can be viewed on the system. We really don’t want little three-year-old Johnny to stumble on Massive Zombie Horror Murder Kill Fest Five: The Bloodening now do we?
