A while back, we ran a story about Netflix splitting its service into two. Netflix would continue to handle the digital end of things, but a new service called Qwikster would handle DVD and video game rentals. Immediately the jokes started flowing, with several Netflix fans basically saying that they have chosen to commit service suicide. Well, after the extremely negative reaction to the Qwikster announcement, Netflix has decided that it won’t go through with the Qwikster plans after all. The news comes from Netflix’s official blog via a post by founder Reed Hastings.
