New F1 Game In Development

None

Codemasters, the company behind those Game Genie devices from yesteryear, is working on a free-to-play project called F1 Online: The Game. It’s an old school top-down racing game that lets you customize drivers, cars, and even teams, making it as much of a management sim as it is a racing game. And get this, it will all be playable in your browser.

The game will include re-creations of real life tracks such as Monaco and Silverstone, and will be updated with data from actual F1 competitions. Players will be able to take place in online championship modes, Grand Prix events, practice races, qualifiers, and a large array of time trials.

The game is set to launch in early 2012. What do you think? Can a browser-based top-down racing game be relevant in this age of Need for Speed?
