New Smart Ring Hopes to Revolutionize Motion Control

Titanium Falcon has just announced that it has completed its design for a brand new “Smart Ring” which will supposedly change the way we think of motion controlled games. The ring, barely larger than any other actual ring you would wear on your finger, would cost less than $100 and would be enough to sense the entire motion of your hand. It would also include two buttons you could use for digital control, though pressing them on a ring might be difficult to do.

“By using Bluetooth Low Energy technology and 9-axis motion control sensor, Talon smart ring could connect with any smart device (phone, tablet, smart TV, smart watch, PC/MAC, or VR headset), and the ring will convert users’ hand gestures to appropriate input for the game or application,” Titanium said.

It is unclear whether or not the ring will be able to sense movements of individual fingers. If it could, however, this could be a huge step in the right direction for motion control technology as it has a low profile, low cost, and wouldn’t need to be taken off when using a normal controller.
