Everyone’s favorite, huge video game event, E3 is coming in barely under a month (oh no). Nintendo has finally laid out its plans. There’s nothing surprising here, as Nintendo’s E3 presence has been fairly consistent for the past several years.
First off is the Nintendo Spotlight, the usual video package we’ll all be tuning into on the typical streaming channels. Nintendo is running this on June 13, at 9am PT/12pm ET. The bit says this is a presentation for Switch games for 2017, including Super Mario Odyssey .
Next is the Nintendo Treehouse: Live event that has gained a ton of ground over the past few years. Right after the Nintendo Spotlight, the folks at Treehouse (Nintendo’s localization outfit) will show off games for both the Switch and 3DS. This will include interviews with the developers.
Finally, Nintendo will be hosting multiple live tournaments. These will run across June 13 and 14, with the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational and the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational both streaming live from Nintendo’s E3 booth.
Looks like a busy year, and the omission of both 3DS and 2018 from the Nintendo Spotlight have me on the edge of my seat. But as we saw with the last Nintendo Direct, that doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be any curveballs.
