Nintendo Releasing New Wii U Update That Will Decrease Loading Times

The Wii U has a bunch of problems. Its online capabilities are a little halfcocked, its digital distribution policies tie content to consoles rather than accounts, and it has a weak library. Many of these will take a long time and a lot of planning to fix. However, in the meantime, Nintendo can fix some of the more simple issues, like loading times.

Nintendo is going to release a new version of the Wii U’s firmware sometime in April that will drastically reduce loading times. In addition, a second update will be available sometime in the autumn. Though, details on what this update will entail have not yet been released.

Nintendo has unveiled a comparison video showing off console load times before and after the patch. It shows that, post patch, the Wii U will run nearly twice as fast. Unfortunately, it also gives you a sobering look into how slow the console is running right now.
