Nintendo WiiWare Original Games to launch next year

Nintendo WiiWare Original Games to launch next year

None

Nintendo has finally announced a channel that will support original downloadable games.  Using the WiiWare Channel, developers will be able to make large and small titles that Wii owners will be able to download in the same manner as the current Virtual Console games.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Amie said the following. “Independent developers armed with small budgets and big ideas will be able to get their original games into the marketplace to see if we can find the next smash hit. WiiWare brings new levels of creativity and value to the ever-growing population of Wii owners.”

Unfortunately, this service won’t be available until early 2008.  Also, when questioned on the possibility of a hard drive, which has been a rumored addition to the Wii and expected to be announced at this year’s E3, a Nintendo representative flatly denied any current plans to release or announce a hard drive.

Nintendo plans to release more information, including the pricing plan, at a later date.
