OnLive Mobile Apps Hit iOS and Android

OnLive Mobile Apps Hit iOS and Android

None

OnLive is poised to change the face of gaming with their latest announcement. Today, the company revealed that it would be releasing apps on iOS and Android devices today. This means that iPhone and Android users will be able to play AAA games like Arkham City and L.A. Noire from anywhere on earth—as long as they have a Wifi, 3G or LTE data connection.

However, even if the games stream perfectly, the real test of the Onlive system will come in the control setup. Obviously, most of their games catalog requires controls that are far more complex than Angry Birds. But it seems like the company actually has all of their ducks in a row in the control department.

Currently, the system supports three controls setups. The primary interface is touch based. This setup is an appropriate choice for games like Rockstar’s L.A. Noire or Hidden Path’s Defense Grid. But for the first-person shooters, OnLive offers a virtual pad overlay or emulated mouse interface. Obviously there are gamers out there who will never he happy with a touched-based interface, and for those players, OnLive offers a Universal OnLive Wireless Controller.
