Cloud gaming service OnLive has announced that it will be fully available on iPad and Android tablets this fall. The OnLive Player App for iPad and Android will allow the devices to play almost all of OnLive’s library of over one hundred games. OnLive appears to be directly targeting the recently- announced Wii U, stating that it will allow for the seamless integration of tablet devices and HDTVs in 2011. OnLive games will be played using the service’s universal controller or the tablet’s touch pad. In addition, tablets can be used as touch and/or motion controllers for playing games on an HDTV, PC, or Mac, assuming that the games themselves support that kind of control. The OnLive system will also allow for games to be played either simultaneously or independently on a tablet device and HDTV, and will support voice chat- enabled multiplayer gaming both locally and online. In addition, iPhone and Android smartphones will have all of this functionality enabled. As with its free- to-download PC service, the OnLive app will offer players the opportunity to rent titles, purchase them for individual play, or pay for unlimited access to game bundles. |
