Phillips Seeking to Kill the Wii U Once and For All

Phillips Seeking to Kill the Wii U Once and For All

The Wii U hasn’t had much luck these past few years, suffering from low sales and support. However, Phillips isn’t willing to let it die a slow death. They want to put an end to Wii U sales completely with a full out ban.

How can they do this? Well they are claiming that the Wii U utilizes some technology that Phillips patented. The first is a bit of code that can mirror someones real life actions inside a game. The second is a patent for an input system using a pointing device like the Wii U GamePad.

As a result Phillips has sued Nintendo and is seeking to put a block on all sales of the Wii U and any other Nintendo hardware that is supposedly infringing on the patent. They are also seeking monetary compensation for damages.

A full stop to console sales could be absolutely crippling to Nintendo after their recent years of financial losses. We will keep you updated as the lawsuit develops.

Were the crappy Phillips CDI Mario and Zelda games not enough damage to Nintendo’s name for you Phillips?
