PlayStation VR Could Eventually Work on PCs

PlayStation VR is looking like a big hit already. The internet had a meltdown when Sony revealed an October release for $399 at this year’s GDC. Initial pre-orders for a $499 bundle that includes a PlayStation Camera, two Move controllers, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds sold out almost immediately on Amazon. The second wave of pre-orders, which went live last Thursday, sold out quickly as well. Sony admitted that it totally underestimated demand for its VR solution, which is a good thing. Now Sony is already thinking about the future of PlayStation VR.

Sony, in an article in Nikkei , stated that it might consider branching out and making the PlayStation VR HMD compatible with PCs. In a portion translated by SegmentNext , Sony said, “Since PlayStation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there. At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I’d say there will be an expansion into various fields.”

If Sony decides to move forward and announce some kind of PC compatibility initiative, PlayStation VR could prove to be an even bigger source of competition to Oculus VR and the HTC Vive than previously anticipated. Stay tuned to CheatCC for all of your VR news and updates.
