Pokemon Go Update Adds “Buddy Pokemon” and Plus Support

Pokemon Go Update Adds “Buddy Pokemon” and Plus Support

Niantic has begun rolling out Pokemon Go versions 0.37.0 and 1.7.0 for Android and iOS devices, respectively. The updates began over the weekend, so there’s a good chance you’re either playing the newest version, or you’re about to. Along with the usual performance improvements and bug fixes, the new update brings with it two exciting new features. The first is the addition of “Buddy Pokemon.” Now you can select your favorite Pokemon to follow you around everywhere you go when you’re out adventuring. By walking with your buddy, you’ll earn candy specific to that Pokemon in order to power it up. This should greatly help players in areas with low Poke-diversity.

The update also adds support for Pokemon Go Plus, the new wearable companion which hits select retailers on September 16. The device, which connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth, allows you to “keep your phone in your pocket and go about your day-to-day activities while still being able to collect valuable resources and capture even the most elusive Pokemon.” Pokemon Go Plus will cost $35. Go catch ’em all, trainers, and go Team Instinct!
