Rare’s gone ahead and switched out their company website for a countdown splash page of sorts. The page reveals almost nothing about what we can expect, but early speculation pegs a new software release for the Microsoft-owned company. We disagree with conventional wisdom, however. Considering the fact Rare has been instrumental in developing Avatars for Xbox 360, expect a Natal-related twist on the virtual you. In fact, a few months ago, Microsoft went ahead and patented tech that was going to measure human biometric characteristics such as height and weight in order to make Avatars more lifelike and to enrich the Xbox LIVE community. Moreover, the statement “One in a million” on the website along with a little Avatar to the left seems to refer to making Avatars unique. We’ll find out for sure in just a couple of days.  |
