A Taiwanese company has recently reported that it has received manufacturing orders for PlayStation 4 consoles, and they expect to fulfill those orders by mid-2012 for a fall release. This is very interesting news indeed, especially since that would put Sony on track for two console releases within 12 months, and would also put them head-to-head with Nintendo’s Wii U. It also seems quite unlikely, as Sony has not even hinted at plans for a new console. Still, the fact that the PlayStation 3 went head-to-head with the Wii at launch does lend some credence to this rumor. However, this earlier-than-expected release date isn’t even the most interesting part of the rumor.
