Square Enix is allegedly carrying out a retail “field destroy” for Final Fantasy XIV.
A NeoGAF user posted a purported document that showcases the publisher requesting retailers to destroy all existing inventory of the MMO.
“We haven’t announced pricing and launch time for the title yet,” a Square Enix rep told Joystiq when asked whether they are clearing Final Fantasy XIV inventory. “However, we have publicly stated that beta will begin at the end of this year.”
A reboot for the game was recently announced in the form of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which will receive a beta this winter.
