Battlefield 2042 is a 2021 FPS title developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. As part of the long-running Battlefield franchise, the game came to most of the main platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Typically, critics have warmed up to the franchise over the years, awarding it amazing reviews across the board. However, Battlefield 2042 is somewhat of an exception. It received a 68 on Metacritic, indicating mixed reviews. A user score of 2.1 on Metacritic indicates how the community feels in general, too. This was due to the removal of many Battlefield staples, and unpopular development decisions from DICE. But are there any cheats in Battlefield 2042? Let’s dive a little deeper…
Battlefield 2042 Premise
Battlefield 2042 is a continuation of the standard formula for the series – land, air, and sea warfare on a huge scale. This iteration supports up to 128 players per match on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but just 64 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game takes on a strong futuristic aesthetic, a change of pace from the historic and modern settings of recent entries into the series.
Battlefield 2042 is split into three main game modes. The first, All-Out Warfare, brings back two Breakthrough and Conquest from previous games. This is what most Battlefield 2042 players continue to play, as it most resembles previous iterations of the franchise. The next main game is called Battlefield Portal, a unique feature that allows gamers to go back and play maps and modes from previous games. It’s a fun gimmick and a great nostalgia trip, but not something that most play daily. Finally, there’s Hazard Zone, a co-op mode that pits players against AI enemies, where they must complete a series of objectives to finish the mission.
While fans were critical of the lack of a single-player campaign, there’s still plenty here for long-time fans of the franchise to enjoy. The gameplay itself is still recognizably Battlefield, with Levolution, real-time destruction, and advanced weather systems combining to produce one of the most comprehensive experiences in the series to date.
Battlefield 2042 Main Characters
Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 doesn’t have a single-player campaign, unlike most other iterations of the franchise. It’s just one of the reasons fans turned against the game upon its release. This means that there really aren’t any main characters in Battlefield 2042.
Instead, the in-game narrative is told through multiplayer gameplay, but it’s nothing to write home about. The game does feature Specialists, which are characters you can unlock for use in combat. Each has their own personality and abilities, and it’s a shame we don’t have a complete story to explore them further. They all fit right into the traditional Classes seen in previous Battlefield games – here are the ones found in Battlefield 2042:
Assault Operators
- Rasheed Zain: Zain comes equipped with the XM370A Airburst Launcher, as well as the Perseverance ability which makes him recover health faster than other Specialists.
- Webster Mackay: Mackay has the grappling hook, which can be used to move around the map much faster, and the Nimble ability which allows him to move quicker when aiming down sights.
- Santiago “Dozer” Espinoza: Dozer can use the SOB-8 Ballistic Shield, making him a nightmare to take down. He also features the Blast Resistant ability, which makes him more resistant to all explosive damage.
- Emma “Sundance” Rosier: Sundance has Smart Explosives, a wide arsenal that allows her to adapt to any situation. She also comes with the Wingsuit Operator ability, which swaps out her parachute for a wingsuit. This makes her much faster to reach the ground safely.
Engineer Operators
- Pyotr “Boris”Guskovsky: Boris can place down the SG-36 Sentry Gun, which automatically fires at enemies spotted within range. He also comes with the Sentry Operator ability, which spots and marks enemies automatically when they enter its range.
- Charlie “Mike” Crawford: Mike’s main advantage is the Mounted Vulcan Stationary Minigun, which is perfect for laying down heavy support to lock down an area. His Critical Repair ability ensures he’s able to repair deployed gadgets and heavily damaged vehicles much faster.
- Ewelina Lis: Lis has access to the G-84 TGM, which fires guided missiles to destroy heavy enemy vehicles. Her Armor Hunter ability automatically spots any enemy vehicles within a certain range.
Support Operators
- Maria Flack: Flack comes equipped with the S21 Syrette Pistol, which can be fired at teammates to provide a health boost. She also uses the Combat Surgeon ability, which brings downed friendlies to full health when revived.
- Constantin “Angel” Anghel: Angel can use the Loadout Crate, which he can throw to teammates to give them ammo. Trauma Specialist is his ability, allowing him to revive teammates with their bonus armor health filled.
- Kimble “Irish” Graves: Irish gets the Fortification System, which he can throw down as a deployable cover for him and his teammates. He also has the Cache Point ability, which replenishes the Gadget ammo of any teammate he revives.
Recon Operators
- Camila Blasco: Blasco’s X6-Infiltration Device prevents enemies from locking on and spotting teammates. She also comes with the Ambush Expert ability, which makes her impossible to spot by any player using a motion-based Gadget.
- Ji-Soo Paik: Paik uses the EMG-X Scanner, which makes all enemies within a certain range visible, even those through walls. Her Eagle Eyed ability automatically spots any enemy she does damage to, for her and her teammates.
- Wikus “Casper” Van Daele: Casper comes with the OV-P Recon Drone, which is used to spot enemies from the air and uses EMP blasts to disorient them. He also has the Movement Sensor ability, which tells him whenever an enemy is approaching nearby.
- Navin Rao: Rao has the Cyber Warfare Suite, a great tool used to scramble enemy vehicle systems, and can even trigger base defenses from a long distance away. He has a great ability called Acquisition, which automatically spots any enemy that damages Rao.
Battlefield 2042 Titles in the Series
The Battlefield series is one of the biggest FPS franchises around, with a long history dating back over two decades. It remains enormous to this day, although the tepid response to Battlefield 2042 has seen its reputation take a dive in the last few years.
The series arguably hit its peak in the early-to-mid 2010s, when it was engaged in a grudge match against Call of Duty to carve its place as the premier FPS series. Nowadays, both of these franchises appeal to different audiences.

Battlefield 2042 Cheat Codes
Because Battlefield 2042 is a multiplayer game, DICE and Electronic Arts have a lot of resources dedicated to ensuring there are no cheats for the game. There will always be some third-party tools that slip through the cracks, but they can lead to a ban of your EA account, so we can’t in good faith show you where to find them.
There are no cheat codes for fast unlocks in Battlefield 2042, either. Progression has always been core to the Battlefield experience, and that’s still the case here. Does Battlefield 2042 Have an Anti-Cheat?
Yes. The Battlefield series has always had quite a strict anti-cheat system in place to ensure players are all on an even playing field. This means that while some third-party cheats such as wallhacks and aimhacks might work, they will always result in a ban eventually.
Given the likelihood of a ban, using this type of Battlefield 2042 cheat just isn’t worth it.
Are Battlefield 2042 Cheats Free?
No. Any third-party cheat for Battlefield 2042 that you’ll come across will likely cost a fee to use. Even still, it won’t protect you from the eventual banhammer coming down on your account.
