Rumor Round-Up: Geometry Wars 2 to PS3, Snake in Next Motorstorm, Microsoft to Pick up Take-Two, and more!

None

The Rumor Round-Up summarizes and highlights the most important gaming related gossip over the past week. This weekly article, in conjunction with the Week in Review, will keep you plugged in and in-tune.

The first rumor comes from a 1UP interview with Bizarre Creations’ games manager Craig Howard. When asked whether Retro Evolved 2 would ever make its way to PSN, Howard said, “Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 is currently an Xbox 360 exclusive title, although PSN is definitely in our company plans going forward.” It sounds like a bit of a stretch for GW: RE 2 to go Sony, but we’re sure Sony fans are keeping their fingers crossed.

In related news, a similar rumor concerning Portal: Still Alive was being passed around. According to Electronic Theatre, a PR Manager at E3 2008 told the web operation that a Portal title will be making its way to PSN shortly after the Xbox 360 release. Though there is no official confirmation as to what it will be.

Is Snake a playable character in the next Motorstorm? We’re not sure, but the game’s E3 2008 trailer seems to be fuel for thought if not outright confirmation. It appears that a masked Snake is caught riding a motorcycle at second 0:44 and 0:56 of the trailer. Because Snake’s face is covered, we can’t say for sure. However, the riders get up and silver hair sure look like Old Snake’s signature features

The biggest whopper of the week to resurface its ugly head is that of Microsoft pining to acquire Take-Two. As much as people keep touting this, it seems unlikely that Microsoft would ever by a company that depends upon multiple platforms for the bulk of its revenue stream.  However, the rumor continues to persist, so there might be something to it.

Thanks so much everyone and we will see you next week!
