RUMOR: Shenmue’s Voice Actor Back At Sega?

Corey Marshall, the voice behind Shenmue’s protagonist, Ryo Hazuki, has recently piqued the interest of former Dreamcast owners with pictures recently posted to his Facebook that show him in a sound booth, apparently doing voice work, as well as standing in front of a cut-out, prominently featuring the classic SEGA logo.

Speculation has it that the actual image on the cut-out, mostly hidden by Marshall himself, is of Ryo Hazuki’s motorcycle.

Given the fervor among its dedicated, cult fanbase, it’s somewhat surprising that Shenmue has yet to see a sequel. There had been talk of a movie to wrap up the plot, and an MMO set in the game’s world was in the works (there was footage of it in action to confirm this), but both of these had apparently petered out. Besides, a true sequel to the original games, one that takes advantage of modern hardware to deliver an even more intricate, organic city to explore, would be a dream come true.

Here’s hoping Marshall’s recent posts indicate that this is more than just a dream.
