The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is making headlines all over gaming news today, and strangely enough it’s not because of any new gameplay innovation or graphics evolution or even new teaser images for the game itself. It’s because the Skyrim developers have decided to allow gamers to get married to anyone in the game, even members of the same sex.

Bethesda was asked the question on Twitter, to which Pete Hines, Bethesda marketing guru replied. “You can marry anyone,” he said, following it up with: “Sorry, should clarify. Not any NPC, just mean any male or female. Doesn’t matter what you’re playing.”



Skyrim is well-known for the flexibility that it gives you when developing your character’s personal life. You can have romantic relationships, forge friendships, make friends and allies, and all of this will affect your in-game abilities. For example, good allies will protect you and go into dungeons with you.

So, that being said, I want to gay marry the strongest and toughest orc in the kingdom. Um, for pragmatic reasons…
