Second Closed Beta of War Thunder’s “Ground Forces” Expansion Announced

Second Closed Beta of War Thunder’s “Ground Forces” Expansion Announced

Pilots in the sky may have something to worry about, because the second Closed Beta for War Thunder’s Ground Forces ” expansion started last Friday on December 27, as announced by  Gaijin Entertainment.

Selected players of the free-to-play MMO, who participated in a variety of daily in-game challenges throughout November last month, have received invites to take part this second Closed Beta. If you’re interested in taking part in the Closed Beta, but haven’t been given an invite, you can buy your way in by purchasing one of the advanced packs for Gaijin’s online store . These purchases will remain yours even after Ground Forces goes into Open Beta, upon which the bought items will become exclusive collector’s items.

Gaijin has also published a set of development dairies for Ground Forces for those interested in the expansions progress and promises. Two of these dairies focus on the primary Ground Force unit, the tank, detailing how the unit will be damaged and how it will take damage, and how it will feed back that information to the player. The third one focuses more so on customization for the tank, including insignias, decals and aesthetics (clean and shiny or dirty and battered). The diaries can be found here , here and here respectively.

War Thunder is currently in Open Beta on PC, as well as in development for both Mac and Oculus Rift (which may be a whale of a time, judging by the praise I’ve heard of the Rift already), and is also available to play on PlayStation 4. If you want to take the fight to the skies in a fairly impressive simulation of World War II aircraft, you can download the game on its official website here .
