Sega’s Throwing Sonic a 25th Anniversary Party

Sega’s Throwing Sonic a 25th Anniversary Party

Sega made a pretty big deal out of its SXSW 2016 panel, promising news. Well, there was news, but not what you’d expect. One of the panel’s announcements was an announcement for another announcement. It revealed a Sonic 25th Anniversary Party that will be held in San Diego on July 22.

The event will be held at the House of Blues during the San Diego Comic-Con. Sega’s charging $25 admission for the 6-10pm event, saying people will get to see Crush40 and the Hyper Potions perform. There’ll also be special Sonic 25th Anniversary merchandise to buy. Sega’s teasing a “very special announcement” too, saying people will see the future of Sonic. Perhaps it’ll be, dare we even hope, another event announcement? Ha, no. The company couldn’t get away with that twice.

In other Sonic news, we did get a Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice release date, in case any of you were super excited to play that Nintendo 3DS game. It’ll come out on September 27. If the previous Sonic Boom game is any indication of quality, it might be wise to wait for a used copy or sale.
