Former Capcom strategic marketing director of online and community and fighting game expert Seth Killian announced today that he will be joining Sony as a lead game designer of the company’s Santa Monica studio.

Killian, co-founder of the EVO fighting game championships and the face of Capcom’s fighting game department for the past six years, says that his vast experience in the genre will help him to transition over to his new position, where his first project will be working on Sony’s upcoming brawler, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

“Fighting games are very close to my heart, and as someone that’s spent much of my life with traditional fighters, All-Stars has been a great opportunity to take a step back and rethink fighting fundamentals from the ground up,” Killian said in a post on the official U.S. PlayStation Blog.

“The entire team was put together from scratch to create this game, and they are loaded with fighting game superstars (including some impressive tournament credentials–I’m not even the first EVO finalist to join the team!) who love great combat just as much as I do.”

Two weeks ago, Killian announced that he was parting ways with Capcom , stating that he has “chosen a new path which will let [him] embrace a new dream.”

In his first appearance with his new team, Killian says that he and the rest of All-Stars Battle Royale dev SuperBot will be bringing the game to EVO this weekend, which will mark PlayStation’s first ever presence at the event.
