Significant Patch for No Man’s Sky Is Almost Ready

Significant Patch for No Man’s Sky Is Almost Ready

It’s very rare that a game launches whole these days. It’s a bit of a shame, but day-one patches are perfectly acceptable now; expected, even. The bigger the game, the more likely it is that months of patching will be required for it to be playing and functioning as the devs intend. No Man’s Sky is certainly big, and Sean Murray tweeted late last night to let the world know that a sizable patch for No Man’s Sky was in the works. “5am at Hello Games,” the tweet reads. “Wrapping up a month of work on our first update. Lots of new features, balancing and content.”

One can’t help but suspect that this may have been published as a response to recent complaints made by Reddit user “Daymeeuhn,” who spent $1,300 on an early copy of the game. Daymeeuhn has been very active on Reddit and has sparked multiple, enormous threads stating that No Man’s Sky could be completed in about 30 hours. He also reported numerous bugs, as well as a broken, exploitable economy. Several gamers were expressing their disappointment and fear over the complaints, and some even mentioned that they had canceled their pre-orders. Hopefully the news that a significant day-one patch is inbound will help to alleviate some of those fears. Unfortunately, it also pretty much guarantees that review codes won’t be sent out until launch, so do keep that in mind when hunting for reviews.
