On the Official U.S. PlayStation Blog, Eric Monacelli, Community Strategist for Naughty Dog revealed the schedule for The Last of Us’ DLC releases. The first DLC pack, entitled the Abandoned Territories Map Pack , will add quite a few new maps to the game’s multiplayer mode. These maps include “Suburbs,” a downtown suburb that is beset by random dust storms, “Bus Depot,” a former urban area overgrown with foliage and run through with wild giraffes, “Hometown,” a dark, urban environment that mimics to apocalyptic town shown in the beginning of the game, and “Bookstore,” which includes several buildings with multiple floors, perfect for camping and taking your perfect shot.
The second pack will be an add-on to the single-player story mode. The post describes it as “an ambitious story with strong ties into the narrative of The Last of Us .” Monacelli went on to say that the team just wrapped up the casting process for a new character and will be starting the motion-capture process next week. They expect the story DLC to come out sometime around the end of the year. The third DLC pack will be multiplayer focused, but Monacelli and Naughty Dog are not ready to reveal any details about it yet. They also aren’t ready to reveal DLC pricing, but they did say that anyone who purchases a season pass will save over 75% over buying the DLC individually. The season pass can be purchased for $19.99 on the PlayStation Store or at a GameStop retailer.
