Sony Exec Confirms PS NEO Exists, Won’t be at E3

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Andrew House has opened up a little about the PlayStation NEO in an interview with the Financial Times. First of all, House wants to make sure current PS4 owners aren’t worried about future software being hijacked by a more powerful console. When asked about Neo, House said that it “…is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4. We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety. All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4.”

He went on to say that Neo will be more expensive than the current model PS4, and development for games supporting Neo will begin in the fall. What House would not share, however, was when Sony is planning to launch its beefed up PS4 or exactly how much it’ll cost. If you were hoping for a reveal next week at E3, you’re out of luck there as well; House added that Neo would not be making an appearance at the expo. But we already knew that – if Sony had plans to showcase games running on the Neo, then the footage would have been uploaded to YouTube already.
