Sony’s Numbers Down, Jobs Cut To Compensate

Sony’s Numbers Down, Jobs Cut To Compensate

According to Sony’s most recently published financial results, Sony income is down 59%. Their net losses for a three month period grew from $310 million up from $195.3 million a year previous.

As a result, Sony is unfortunately closing some branches of its business. It has recently closed a lens factory, cutting almost 2,000 jobs. It does not appear to be cutting any jobs in its gaming division—at least not yet.

So for now, PlayStation production seems to be mostly unaffected. However, if Sony continues to lose money, we might see its gaming division get into some trouble. For now, we will see where it goes. It’s likely that it will receive a large influx of money when its next console hits the market.
