Square Enix VP Jumps Ship to Ad Firm

Square Enix VP Jumps Ship to Ad Firm

They’re dropping like flies I tell ‘ya!

In the long string of resignations I’ve reported on this week, we now find one high level exec leaving Square Enix (the company behind Tomb Raider ) for greener pastures.

Karl Stewart announced via his Tumbler account that he would in fact be leaving the company, but before the rumor mill had a chance to kick into full gear, he stated emphatically that they’re parting on good terms. “Square Enix is an amazing company, whether you work for one of its studios or publishing arms, or if you’re thinking of joining, this company has given me the opportunity to grow and do what I love to do best, work in creative and ridiculously talented company at the heart of the video game industry.” He states.

Stewart (who is VP of strategic marketing) began his career back in 2006 and worked for the studio for almost eight years. While his resumé was quite varied, as he got the chance to work on triple-A titles like Arkham and more, a certain buxom bombshell is what he called his “crowning glory.” After breathing new life in the Tomb Raider franchise for the current generation (referring to fans and not the hardware), Stewart revealed that ” A large part of my life went into that reboot and I thoroughly believe that Crystal Dynamics has created one of the most memorable, if not the biggest, reboot in video game history.”

Square Enix has not yet released a statement regarding his departure.
