Studio Head for Crystal Dynamics Quits

Studio Head for Crystal Dynamics Quits

The studio head for Crystal Dynamics, Darrell Gallagher,  has officially quit the company. The reasons at this point are unclear.

Gallagher also oversaw Square Enix’s overseas efforts, taking care of all of their games published outside of Japan. Crystal Dynamics employees Scot Amos and Ron Rosenberg have already stepped up as co-studio heads and have been operating in that capacity for months. Square Enix states that the transition has been seamless.

This last year alone, Square Enix has released a bunch of critically acclaimed western titles. Among them, Lara Croft Go, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Life is Strange particularly stand out. That said, Rise of the Tomb Raider didn’t perform well from a sales perspective and received some bad press for its Xbox One exclusivity. Still, it will be sad to see Gallagher go and hopefully the new studio heads continue the good work that he put in for the famed company.
