New Tomb Raider Has Been Delayed To 2013

None

Last year at E3, we got a chance to see the new Tomb Raider game by Crystal Dynamics, Eidos, and Square Enix in action. The game won multiple Best in Show awards at the convention and we all looked forward to the day it would hit store shelves in 2012. Unfortunately, it looks like its aforementioned 2012 release date was a bit too optimistic.

According to Darrell Gallagher, head of Crystal Dynamics, in a post on the official Eidos games forums, the game has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2013. Gallagher cited a desire to make the highest quality game possible as the reason for the delay, as is generally the case with delays like this.

In addition to the delay message, a new screenshot was revealed pointing toward some new content that we will apparently be able to see at E3. The screenshot shows Lara stepping out on a branch, attempting to retrieve a bow from a corpse.

At least, we hope that’s a corpse and not some kind of zombie. I think we can all agree that the last thing this industry needs is another zombie game.
