Star Trek Finds A Publisher

None

Yesterday, Ghost Recon Online popped back into the public eye with a date for its closed beta. Today, it’s Star Trek: a third-person, cover-based shooter shaped around the eponymous 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot.

Last seen at E3, the title was slated to be published by Paramount’s gaming arm, but had faded into the background over the ensuing months as major releases piled up and news from the developer trickled to a crawl.

It would seem that, at some point, Paramount decided not to publish the game themselves, as they are now partnering with veteran publisher NAMCO Bandai to bring it out on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There have been no additional details on the development of the game, itself, but its original nebulous 2012 release date has been canned in favor of a far less nebulous—though further away—spring 2013 voyage into galactic parts unknown. They’re hoping, in particular, to have the game out in time for the May 17 release of the as-of-yet unnamed J.J. Abrams Star Trek sequel.
