Steam Now Selling Non-Gaming Software

Steam Now Selling Non-Gaming Software

Steam revolutionized the PC gaming world by keeping track of all your PC gaming purchases. Now, no matter how many times you have to switch computers, Steam will always allow you to recover all of your games by simply downloading them from the Steam service again. If only you could do this with other more essential programs.

Well, now Valve is attempting to pave the way for a new age of digitally distributed and managed software as Steam will now offer non-gaming software. The first non-game programs are available for purchase: ArtRage Studio Pro, CameraBag 2, Game Maker: Studio, 3D-Coat, 3DMark Vantage, and 3DMark 11.

All of these titles will take advantage of Steamworks features that Steam games have had for a while now. This includes one-click installation, automatic updating, and the ability to save your files on the Steam Cloud. Certain titles also feature Steam Workshop integration, which allows users to share their work with other Steam members.

All non-game Steam software is available at 10% off this week. Now is the perfect time to pick up any of these programs if you have been hesitant to before. Of course, that’s another perk of being a software title on Steam, being offered at ridiculously low prices during Steam sales.
