Super Hexagon Sells 10k Copies On iOS

Super Hexagon is a brand new portable game that has recently come out for the iPhone, iPad, Android, DSi, 3DS, PSP, and more. The goal is simple. You are a little triangular pointer trapped in an increasingly complex geometric maze. It is your job to survive the maze as the walls continuously close in on you. Each level can be enjoyed in only a few seconds and includes numerous moving colors and shapes to satisfy the easily amused toddler inside you.

And it works! The game has sold over ten thousand copies on iOS alone in just three days. Developer Terry Cavanagh has recently opened up a Reddit “ask me anything” thread to talk about the game’s stunning success that even he himself is amazed by.

“I didn’t see that coming at all – I’d really gone into this expecting the game to be a super niche thing that only a tiny handful of iPhone gamers would be interested in, and I’m really glad to be proven wrong,” Cavanagh writes.

Cavanagh has said that he is looking into other projects in both the video game and, oddly enough, the board game world. Hopefully we will see more from him in the future.
