Final Fantasy VI Available on the Apple Store

Final Fantasy VI Available on the Apple Store

A few days ago, we brought you news that the Super NES hit Final Fantasy VI was coming to mobile devices. Today, you can pick it up on the Apple store!

In a recent press release, Square Enix touts the release of the 16-bit classic for iOS. The original graphics have been recreated for the handheld release, with Kazuko Shibuya (a franchise contributor from the early 90’s) supervising the processes.

Naturally you won’t have the standard dog bone style controller from the old days, as playing Final Fantasy on a touchscreen will have its own unique feel. Several enhancements and tweaks have been made to bring the game to your mobile device, which will include:

  • … intuitive user-friendly controls that make the game easy to play on touch screens. In particular, the battle interface has received a complete overhaul for smartphones.
  • The magicites and events that were introduced in the 2006 remake will also make a return. In addition, events have been optimized for user-friendly touch controls.
  • Need a hint? Mog will help players who are stuck by telling them what they should do next.
  • The album feature will allow players to revisit the story of the game, just in case they missed an event or need to catch up.
  • Game data saved with iCloud can now be shared across devices! At home or away, on your iPhone or iPad, pick the play style that’s best for you.

Final Fantasy retails for $15.99 and is playable on the iPhone 4S and above, the iPad 2 and above, as well as the 5th generation iPod touch.
