Super Smash Bros. Melee Has Been Modded

Super Smash Bros. Melee Has Been Modded

Super Smash Bros. is one of the hugest fighting game sensations out there, and Melee , the Gamecube version, is still the most popular one amongst the hardcore fighting game community. In fact, it’s so popular that Brawl , its sequel, has been modded multiple times to play more like Melee . But now, Melee itself is getting a mod.

Super Smash Bros. Melee 20xx Tournament Edition is a mod that loads, strangely enough, from a memory card. All you need is to have the memory card save file on your Gamecube memory card in order to take advantage of it. It doesn’t do many things to the core mechanics, but it does give you access to a new debug style menu. This menu allows you to do things like turn off stage hazards, save replays, insert longer names, unlock new character colors, and even unlock new game modes.

Even better, using the save file requires absolutely no hacking whatsoever. You can play it on a plain old out of the box Gamecube as long as you have it on a memory card. Of course, that means you’ll have to download it on your computer and use a memory card transfer device to get the data on it in the first place, or become buddies with someone else who has done the same, but otherwise the mod is totally 100% legit. No dangerous hacks required.
