Project M Makes Its Exit

Project M Makes Its Exit

The Super Smash Bros games are great. So great, that it inspired a major mod project called Project M. Project M was an endeavor by fans to alter and add characters to Super Smash Bros. Brawl , while also making the game more similar to entries like Super Smash Bros. Melee. It was so loved, it even had a presence at tournaments. Now, it’s gone.

The Project M Dev Team has shut down the mod. The website is closed. The download links have been removed. Version 3.6 of Project M has been declared the last one. It isn’t due to a cease and desist from Nintendo, but rather a genuine desire from the Project M Dev Team to move on. They’ve decided they’ve done all they needed to do, formally disbanded, and are working on a new, original project.

Never fear if you missed grabbing it while it was still alive and want Project M. People are still sharing torrents of it. You’ll need a Wii, a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl , and a 2GB SD card. You don’t even need to hack or mod your Wii. I highly recommend it – I played it at a convention once, and it really improves the base game.
